Autumn Qi Chats | Week 3

Your vision is so important!

This week’s Neuro-Qi Chat leads us to talk
about the brain’s relationship with eyes & more importantly YOUR relationship with your eyes.

Your brain needs your eyes…

Did you know that your brain relies heavily on your vision? Think of when you hear a “POP” you react with a primal winch and crouch until your EYES look around to determine the source of the sound. You see, your brain has a hierarchy of information and the vision is at the tip top. Have you ever noticed how all fitness rooms have mirrors? That’s because many of us rely visually on how we move. In fact, it will benefit you better to train AWAY from a mirror so your brain can better receive proprioceptive input from the body.

But the irony here is, we need to individually train the visual system as well! Vision training should be just as much a part of your routine as exercise & meditation!

VISION TRAINING

Visual training refers to a set of exercises and techniques designed to improve various aspects of visual perception and performance. While it can have many potential benefits, here are three main advantages of visual training for clarity, acuity, and overall visual health:

  1. Improved Visual Clarity: Visual training can enhance the sharpness and clarity of your vision. These exercises often target the eye muscles and the brain's ability to process visual information, helping individuals see more clearly and reduce issues like blurriness or difficulty focusing.

  2. Enhanced Visual Acuity: Visual acuity refers to the ability to distinguish fine details and perceive objects clearly at various distances. Visual training exercises can sharpen your acuity, making it easier to read small print, recognize distant objects, and perform tasks that require precise visual discrimination.

  3. Reduced Eye Strain and Fatigue: Visual training can help alleviate eye strain and fatigue, especially for those who spend long hours in front of screens or engage in activities that require sustained visual attention. These exercises can relax the eye muscles, improve eye coordination, and reduce discomfort associated with prolonged screen time.

It's important to note that the effectiveness of visual training may vary from person to person, and individual results can depend on factors such as the specific exercises used and the underlying visual issues being addressed.

Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!

Axial Lengthening

  • Let’s learn a 5 minute vision training routine that you can use throughout the day!

  • To create neuroplasticity you have to practice 4-5x a week for about 10-15 minutes a day. This has to become your new ‘brush your teeth’ MUST to make changes.
