Spring Qi Chats | Week 1
Spring has arrived
This week we discuss how to use this Spring Qi to nourish the Liver and discover what that actually means for our health.
LIVE FOR THE LIVER
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the liver system aligns with the Wood element, with spring being its designated season. It is thought that the liver system is particularly active during this season, and providing support to the liver in spring can aid in maintaining balance and enhancing general health and wellness. To nurture the Liver, it is crucial to grasp the functions it supports. In turn, we can adjust our lifestyle choices, movement patterns, and dietary habits to promote healing and prevent harm.
What is the Liver System?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the liver system extends beyond just the physical liver organ to include the gallbladder, tendons, and eyes, forming a broader concept.
The liver system holds a crucial role in TCM as it regulates the harmonious flow of Qi (vital energy) in the body, stores blood, manages emotions, and aids digestion.
When the liver system functions optimally, Qi and blood circulate smoothly, emotions remain stable, and digestion works efficiently. However, an imbalance in the liver system can lead to various symptoms like headaches, PMS, digestive troubles, emotional fluctuations, and eye issues.
