Glasses vs Training??

This week we discuss the chat around ‘training yourself out of glasses”.

What do I have to do?

Can we first address that the ambition that some people have is AMAZING?! I’ve had students and clients ask about exercises they can do to either train themselves OUT of their prescription or train to prevent the need for glasses down the road . Let’s go over a few things… Visual training is one of the MOST neglected exercises in the health & wellness industry. We’ll train our glutes and back, even our feet before we consider the benefits of training our eyes. But

Will eye exercises train me out of my need for glasses?
Not necessarily. Visual conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia (age-related lens stiffening), glaucoma and macular degeneration will not always improve with visual exercises. But you CAN make your eyes function better AND there’s a realistic chance you can prolong your need for glasses if you are training your brain with the visual system. Know that the reversal of some visual maladies are not as publicly studied.

Will eye exercises benefit me?
YES. The brain NEEDS this stimulus. Good vision goes way beyond ‘seeing clearly’. Your spinal health & reflexiveness, balance, posture, movement (speed/reflexiveness), your necks mobility, even PAIN RELIEF all have an affect from your eyes functioning.

WHAT WORKS?

Let’s address two main factors of benefit from performing eye exercises. Biomechanically and neurologically, you can discover amazing advantages to visual training

Biomechanics - your eye muscles need to be used. Period. Whether you wear glasses or not. If you don’t use it, you WILL lose it.

Neurology - your brain WANTS your eyes to function. How your brain processes visual input will be crucial to your function.

You want to consider visual clarity, depth perception, peripheral awareness and eye movements when training the eyes (as we do in Bamboo Bodies)

Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!

IS CHANGE RIGHT FOR YOU?

  • To create neuroplasticity you have to practice 4-5x a week for about 10-15 minutes a day. This has to become your new ‘brush your teeth’ MUST to make changes.

  • Don’t give up, your eyes NEED this.

  • Remember that the eyes need REST.
