Winter Qi Chats | Week 12
Becoming the Bear
This week we discuss how Chinese Qigong Masters observed the movement of the bear and how we can emulate that power?
Passive Force
Is it possible to be strong yet soft? I hope so, since we train like Bamboo we explore the brain’s balance of Yin Yang, contraction and release, stillness and controlled movement. Qi moves within us and during the Winter season, we learn how to cultivate that internal energy force. We don’t need to pluck it from a star as we simply need to breathe, bring in our thoughts and be still with the alchemy of Qi.
How does the bear influence us?
Adaptation is key. The bear finds time to play and time to rest. That balance of Yin and Yang can establish a strong base as you learn to cultivate Qi. During the season of Yin, learning how to still ourselves brings us deeper into our breathing habits. We close our mouths and learn to slow the breath. We take leave of our Yang ‘obligations’ and learn to say ‘no’ as we retreat to less exhausting living.
