Autumn Qi Chats | Week 12

Can your let go of the outside noise and focus?

The mind is a funny system. To find calm we need to have less activity in our environment however the brain is constantly seeking stimuli.

How can you find calm and stimulate the brain?

Activation is very important in Chinese Medicine. It’s the flow of Qi that keeps up healthy and engaged. However, we live in a world where we are over stimulated and our mind (spirit), brain (neural function) and body (health) take the brunt. It is important to clear the internal clutter as you adapt to calmer outside environments. Calm on the inside and outside.

In with the good. Out with the putrid.

The lungs are a constant purification tool when we nasal breathe. Good breathing mechanics increase vagal tone, helps us thinking more critically and more with more control and less pain. But it’s not only our respiratory mechanics that help, it’s our intention (Yi) behind the habit that is able to make such positive changes in our totality. How? Easy! Inhale the good. Exhale the excess. Take only what you need by breathing slower and narrowing your focus to a more calm environment.

Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!

Let it go!

  • Edit your holiday expectations.

  • Make time for yourself with self-care. Even a 5 minute breathing exercise can help you find calm and prepare your body/mind for the upcoming winter season.

  • Try inhale (count 1), then slowly exhale (count 2), inhale (count 3), exhale (count 4) etc. Get up to 100. If you lose count. Just start again and see how have you can get!
