Autumn Qi Chats | Week 9
How can I train my feet?
This week’s Qi Time chat brings our attention to our feet and how often give our feet access to movement.
What type of feet do you have?
Many of us don’t have much of a relationship with our feet. That is unless we experience pain, but what type of relationship is that?! Knowing your feet is very important as you age. Our foot shows a lifetime of habit (the good, the bad & the ugly) and sadly most of us need to see how we can alter the ‘type’ of feet we have so we can use those feet down the road.
A mobile foot makes for more miles.
When we can better understand our feet, we have a better change at training our feet. As mentioned in the Neuro-Qi tip below, daily foot massage is a good thing. Not only does that sound delightful, but it helps us with better identifying the shape of our foot, improving our proprioceptive map of our feet & creating some joint mobility in a safe and gentle way. Great for ‘beginner’ feet! In addition to sensory work and passive mobility, daily training sessions with your feet are necessary. Standing on one foot is a great exercise. Walking on uneven surfaces as well as engaging the foot with the mobility drills that were encouraged in this week’s Bamboo Bodies classes.
Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!
Journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step
Daily Massage: Wake up to a delightful foot massage. After your full body massage, bring Qi into the toes and foot with a ball massage. Here is your access to the Foot Treatment Plan if you haven’t downloaded it yet: Click here to access the course (The password is happyfeet)
Create your OWN uneven surface to stand on. Sand in a box. Rice/rocks in a sack. Half foam rollers. Dog toys. etc.
