Winter Qi Chats | Week 2

Discovering our many layers

This week we FINALLY get to discuss and understand the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor in all it’s wonders!

How much do you know about your pelvic floor?

The conversation of the pelvic floor may not be a main muscle group that you hear about often but it’s so important. The function of the entire pelvic muscles is crucial, in that it stabilizes the abdominal and pelvic organs. It literally stops your organs from falling straight out of your pelvis and abdomen! These muscles also support the structure of the pelvic so you can move pain-free.

In addition to a holding support, the pelvic floor as a connect with our breath, similar to the energetic connection of the Kidney Qi & Lung Qi. How we breathe & how we soften can help us both in our mechanical & neurological function as well as boost our Qiological function.

A Closer Look

The pelvic floor has multiple layers and you need to know both superficial muscles and deep muscles. Also, if we can look a little close we’ll also see there are similarities of the diaphragm muscle and the pelvic floor muscles (levator ani) that will help you SEE the connection of the two!
