Autumn Qi Chats | Week 12

You are ready…

This week let’s go over the tools you’ve learned from Bamboo Bodies in preparation for the unexpected.

You’ve been training for this…

Every once in a while life throws us lemons and we’re supposed to make lemonade. Easy, right? Well to literally make lemonade, you need more than JUST lemons. You need water & sugar in addition to those lemons to make something sweet out of a tart citrus fruit. I feel this true when it comes to life’s challenges. After a fall, a surgery, an accident or any other moment that task you off course you need to realize that you HAVE the tools. Your training prepares your mind, body and emotions for what’s to come.

Your tools

I wanted to break it down into TWO main tools that you have trained with in Bamboo Bodies. The Lungs and the Visual system. Both of these neurological stimuli can calm the nervous system when applied correctly. Directional breathing is a powerful tool that brings your focus into a calm rhythm and breathing patter that mobilizes the anterior, posterior and lateral cylinder of the torso. Visual drills, such as smooth pursuit can also be an optional tool as the movement of your eyes affect a branch of the vagus nerve and reset neural pathways for pain maintenance.

Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!

You’ve got the tools! Now use them.

  • Bringing ‘cylinder’ breathing into practice when injured

  • Find your happy clock and use visual training to help heal the brain
