Winter Qi Chats | Week 1

How your QSA?

This week we discuss how to use the Tao of Winter so you can check in & reflect on how you’re investing in yourself.

Let’s talk about your Qi Savings Account…

I love getting into “Qiology” because we often don’t talk about Qi and it’s connection it has to our health and longevity. Essentially, we are born with a Qi savings account (luck you!), this is referred to as your Prenatal Jing. This can be regarded as your genetics, your DNA, the stuff you inherited from your parents - grandparents - and beyond. This ‘transferable’ Qi is only part of your constitution as you have your own genetic make up that makes you special. But what makes you TRULY unique is what you do with that savings account.

You can enhance that Qi savings account by eating, moving, behaving and thinking in a way that follows the Tao (The Way of the seasons and how things are). You have control over that Qi savings account and this is often referred to as epi-genetics.

Your Reserves

My father would always say “Don’t you ever touch your savings. You just put savings in, never out!” I would ponder this notion as a young adult, wandering “okay, so WHEN can I begin dipping into my savings account?” And my father would respond, “If you are saving correctly, you’ll never have to.”

In studying Qi (both academically and through self-practice) I began to learn that your Jing Qi is the same. All the work you put in will cultivate into a system that keeps your Qi checking account full, allowing your Qi savings to remain untouched. In fact… Harvard has even jumped on this with a recent article touting that the work you put in NOW will create a cognitive reserve that will benefit you in your later age.

As I often say, what you do today WILL affect your tomorrow. This is why we invest in ourselves!
