Shed your misgivings about aging…
This week we discuss how we all have misgivings about aging (even our doctors) can forget that we can make changes AS we age.
How do we age?
Aging is a natural and inevitable process, but it often comes with certain misgivings and concerns about changes in our bodies. Some common apprehensions and challenges associated with aging including cognitive & physical decline.
It's important to note that while aging brings about certain challenges, lifestyle factors such as a healthy diet, regular exercise, social engagement, and proactive healthcare can contribute to positive aging experiences and mitigate some of these concerns. Additionally, advancements in medical research and healthcare have led to interventions that can address specific age-related conditions and improve overall well-being in later life.
Treat the Person. Not the Illness.
Within time, things begins to change as we age. Sometimes with grace and sometimes with a loud cannon explosion that you wonder if you’re at war with your aging body. And so it is only natural that we seek refuge with our medical professionals to assist us, heal us & fix us.
The problem here is we have not only given ourselves to someone ELSE to resolve the issue but the power dynamic is shifted and both parties are in reversed roles. So. let’s disucss what this can look like as there are good and not so great outcomes to this role reversal.
You the patient are either in pain, worried about an issue or have received a diagnosis that leaves you wondering, ‘now what’?
He/She the doctor is now placed in a position where they need to test, diagnose and treat the illness. They narrow into the pathological plan of treatment and hope that A.) the diagnosis is correct and B.) you respond well to the treatment to result in ‘You are now healed!”.
Where the problem lies is when something between testing - diagnosiing - treating doesn’t go so linearly. People are then left with “I dunno, try the next doctor” and “YOU’RE not responding to the treatment”. Either way, it happens that people are not being treated but only the illness (if correctly diagnosed.)
In today’s video we are going to talk about how you can maintain the role as the healer and main driver in your health so you can see your medical professionals as helpers, coaches & guides to help you as you age!
