Power in the spine…

This week’s Qi Time chat leads us to talk
about what a stable spine can mean for the rest of your body. Energetically and structurally.

If you are brittle, you will break.

How we come into the movement can be determined by our midline stability. This involves our spine, diaphragm, the pelvic floor, vestibular system, vision as well as our tongue and teeth. Beyond just strong muscles and a functioning spinal structure we need to look at our connection with how we STAND and how we MOVE throughout our day.

Do you trust your spine?

I see that moment of hesitation ALL. THE. TIME. in my field. People are tentative in their spinal movement due to injury, pain, fear, etc. But the limiting of the spine affect so much more than our movement. Our breathing habits change which affects the function of our brain, the performance of our internal organs (like the digestive system and the movement of our bowels). There’s a LOT riding on the performance of your spine and I want to show you some SAFE and EFFECTIVE neuro-qi tips that can help get you back to feeling better!

Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!

Lengthen Bai Hui

  • Do the stance! By now you know Bai Hui (top of the head) and Wei Lu (your tailbone). This is your Qigong Posting stance with some load to help you push UP into Bai Hui and lengthen the spine while relaxing the pelvis and directing Wei Lu to the floor.

  • Feel the weight and push up against it as you breathe. Take expanded breaths and LONG exhales 3x-5x.

  • You can use bands, weighted vest or a centered weight (basically pack your backpack with light weight and wear it for your stance).

  • It’s worth the purchase but GET YOURSELF A BAND! For the smaller band CLICK HERE and for the larger band CLICK HERE to check out the bands. I would consider the smallest one or the next size up!
