Spring Qi Chats | Week 6
Connect with stillness
This week we discuss how mental training as we explore the Spring Qigong forms.
The Monkey Mind
Constant chatter like a group of monkeys in the tree tops. That image is often commented on during the Qigong chats with masters as they watch students shift their weight, squirm like 5 year olds and become exhausted with stillness. We have to train the mind towards stillness before we commence our practice in Qigong. Otherwise it’s like having a conversation with a fire alarm going off in the same room.
Where’s the fire?
Not sure when exactly our minds became so influence with the outside noise but I like to remind people that the busy ‘monkey mind’ is not your fault because you’ve conditioned to be scattered and restless. But this noise in the mind can have an affect on the inflammation of the body and brain which will disrupt how you MOVE as well as how you digest, heal, sleep and think.
It’s okay to slow down. Even for one minute. It’s important to check in with the self to see if you’ve experienced stillness or if your inner self is running like a dog after a chicken! Stop the chaos and settle, my friend!
Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!
