Spring Qi Chats | Week 11
Is your ship wrecked? What can you do about it?
This week we discuss the 3rd component to a healthy body - your Qigong practice and how it affects how you follow the Tao.
Your Ship is sinking and you cannot swim
A terrifying scenario indeed. But imagine that on this sinking ship, you were confident that you’d be okay. That you knew how to swim. That regardless of what happens to the ship, what ever weather arises - you’re going to be fine.
My Qigong Master would often refer to fear on a sinking boat as a lack of a Qigong practice. We (myself included) focus on the neurology and physiology of the body. Train the brain for better movement. Breathe better, see better, balance better. But you may not have so deeply connected the 3rd component that our bodies need in our movement practice… Qigong.
JUST DO QIGONG
This form of movement is about cultivation. We have highways of Qi that flow through the body. Many often ignore the Qi Body so you may not feel when Qi is stagnant but it’ll manifest as brain fog, fatigue or even sleepless nights. When your Qi is scattered, you may feel energetic but not grounded in what you’re saying and you’re making decisions by the seat of your pants. (love that expression). And if you’ve got Liver Qi rising up up up, you may express your emotions as anger.
Emotions, pathologies and habits are derived from Qi flow. So to begin how you want to ‘correct’ the imbalance, is to begin your rehabilitation with Qigong. Breathe. Settle. Reconnect. And let Qi flow.
Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!
Just do Qigong
Have you taken the time to practice a morning walk? (that’s qigong!)
Can you be still for 5 minutes and just focus on breathing (that’s qigong!)
Just do Qigong!
