Summer Qi Chats | Week 5
What does cardio look like to you?
This week we discuss recent studies that prove cardiovascular activity can improve the brain’s function… but what does this mean for us?
Run Forest, Run!
I cannot tell you how many clients of mine have been instructed to RUN when ‘prescribed’ exercise for health reasons. The reason I tend to see these clients in my office is because they tried running and injured themselves. No only do we NOT have to run… we need to learn how to anchor the yang activity of cardio so we can explore maximum heart rates with safety and enjoyment!
How high can your kite fly?
Think of cardio activity as a kite. Flying around in the wind it moves, dips, turns and soars. But tethered to the kite is your string, the intention of the kite is guided by that string, pulling the kite so it isn’t blown away with the wind. Your intention needs a strong foundation and that’s the hold you have on that string… think of this hold as your Shen.
You’ll lose your grip on the string with too much to hold and your kite would fly away from you. Instead, you calm the mind to one task and that’s centered around the hold of the string, allowing your to enjoy the yang activity of the moving kite without losing your grip.
Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!
Post it baby!
Posting is one of my FAVORITE yin exercises
Hold for 5 minutes a day and feel the change! Where is your body? How is the Qi flowing? Allow yourself to lengthen through the hold and adjust accordingly so your body isn’t in discomfort and you align your musculoskeletal structure so you CAN move with strength and speed for cardio activities.
