Summer Qi Chats | Week 4
Is your spine feeling a little more delicate?
This week we should discuss the ability and stability of your spine. It’s stronger than you think!
Spinal Mobility
You have an amazing spine that moves more often than you think. Like a balancing act, your spine is constantly in motion as it adjusts to your body movement, outside forces, visual input and vestibular input. To learn that your muscles are constantly firing and your joints NEED that mobility - this can help direct your movement goals when you isolate the spine!
ISOLATION!
Know that no muscle is an island. There are many facets in the mobility of a joint and it takes several muscles to MOVE a joint and to STABILIZE a joint. Isolated joint mobility can help you recruit these ‘assigned’ muscles and learn motor control as you explore the variability of the joint through various directions, loads and speeds.
Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!
Spine check go!
Isolate the joints of the spine starting from coccyx to upper cervical spine
Play with load, speed and direction
