Summer Qi Chats | Week 11
Stop monkeying around & start training out of pain.
This week we discuss what you can DO with all this training and how ‘movement’ isn’t the only answer to pain-free aging.
Let’s play!
I recently heard Qigong referred to as ‘playing with your Qi’ and in this lecture, Liu Ming discussed the importance of a care-free heart when in movement. The child-like ability to explore without judgement & with wonder is often lost on us as we age. The joy of movement varies from person to person. There are those who have lost that ability to ‘play’ entirely and yet there are those who seek joy in their ability daily. It’s not to ask which one are you, but rather, how can you find joy in your current skill.
Bamboo Bodies aims to work towards retraining your mindset in addition to retraining your skillset.
For many of us, we need some sort of neurological reset and to get there we need to re-discover our curiosity and most importantly, our patience.
THE GET DOWN
Last week I showed you the benefits of WHY we exercises the way we do in prevents of injury or speeding up the process post-injury. However we want to enjoy the movement of our bodies while continuing to explore what we can be challenged by. When we begin setting wider boundaries around immobility we look the neural pathway to activate our brain in a way where we CANNOT perform certain movement. Emotions set in (fear, frustration, anxiety, depression) around the immobility and we create a neural imprint in the brain that says “no”.
The reality is, even when there’s movement we cannot perform, it’s wise to continue to WATCH the movement and allow the brain to see how it’s done with the probability that you could do it too. You want to wipe away your ego (of what should or shouldn’t be) and see your current state as a being who deserves to be pain-free and is capable of making change so you can live life with joy & possibility.
Neuro-Qi Tip o’the day!
See + Know
Don’t move into pain but don’t distance yourself from the movement entirely as you need to train out it.
Get creative in exploring your own pathway for the movement & set a practice
Let’s go over your Morning Qigong, Neuro-warm up, & arm swings!
